Spring DIY Projects

Published on 9 May 2025 at 15:00

I have been so inspired lately to create, specifically for the outdoors! I am daydreaming daily about lazy days outside, my girls playing on the grass, and seeing flowers everywhere! I'm on Pinterest almost every day looking for ideas for my home, and I think I've found a few that will be easy for me and will add to the look of my home.  So, please take a peek at what I made!

Bird Feeder

I saw these sweet melamine plates from Walmart and thought I could make them into something. I've always wanted a bird feeder!  I drilled holes into the center of the bowls. I cut a piece of pipe to about 12 inches. I wrapped the pipe with jute twine. then with the same twine I threaded it though all the pieces, I used a bit of hot glue to give each piece a little bit more stability. Then I hung it on my apple tree! I think it turned out cute! I hope I see some birds enjoying it soon!

Garden Sign

This garden sign has a little bit of history behind it! I haven't talked about it yet here but Connor and I bought his childhood home. So, it was crazy that after all these years and other owners of the home that this sign was still around!

I sanded the wood, then I painted the different plant signs, then applied a water based polyurethane. I think it turned out so sweet, and I'm so happy to have it back where it was originally.

Faux Stone Pots

I had these plastic pots sitting around but I like the look of stone pots. So I thought I would try making it look a little nicer. I've used the baking soda paint method before, and I think it works here too! I think these turned out good though, and I can't wait to fill them with some plants!

Garden Journal

In years past, Connor and I had just used plain pieces of paper to plan out our garden every year. This year, I started a garden journal! It will be so nice to refer back to the years past to see what we did. I got this dot book years ago, I think it was a gift from someone from back when Connor and I lived in Virginia, I think they will be happy to see I've kept it, and now I'm finally using it! I doodled on the front, and now it's just up to Connor and me to fill it up with all our ideas for the garden.

So Much More to Do!

I love the spring: the weather is getting nicer, flowers are blooming; I love to see the earth renewed. Spring reminds me of time spent at my grandma's house, where she put me to work planting flowers and helping her in her garden. Spring is about getting into the dirty work, getting the garden ready, getting my hands into some dirt to not only have beautiful flowers but to have a vegetable garden I can feed my family from. I am so eager to get the garden ready! Until next time, see ya!

Isaiah 44:4

They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams.
